the ramblings of a married mother of two with a serious passion for TV cowboys.
Hi! Just blogging by! Feel free to visit anytime!
Happy Birthday, Deb!
It's great that you've started your own journal!
Once again, I've been remiss in updating.
I've had trauma in my life--nothing serious, but it hurts like the dickens. Almost two weeks ago now, I was walking from the wet and rainy driveway into the garage and I didn't realize I had a leaf on my shoe...my foot slid like I was on ice and I went down in a heap. My foot's been hurting me every since then. I finally broke down and got it X-rayed this past weekend, but I was too cheap to pay the $75 Emergency Room Co-pay, so I had my doctor call in for the films, which meant I paid the $10 outpatient testing co-pay instead. But it also meant they didn't get read until Monday, since they weren't an emergency. Turns out it's not broken, which likely means I have tendonitis again, and need one of those stupid little boots to wear. I usually have one around the house, but the last time I wore one it was winter, and it was wet so many times that it stunk to high heaven by the time that I was done with it, so I pitched it. I've searched the local pharmacies, and none of them carry them without a prescription. So, I guess I'll work on getting one of those next.
Last week, I had two different days where I worked my night shift and then stayed 8 hours over working on the schedule--I think I've mentioned before what a b*tch these holiday schedules are proving to be this year. I also had to work a {Shudder} day shift for a certification class that I was semi-freaking out about. It wasn't that I didn't think I knew the content, I just wasn't sure I could feed it back to them in the terms and in the algorithm they wanted us to use. But, I passed with flying colors. So last week, overall, I was generally pretty sleep deprived. But this week I'm on vacation, so it's better.
Jon is golfing this week, so I took off from work--my own little vacation at home. Unfortunately, I've not accomplished much on my list. I had hopes for today, but I ended up spending 2 hours getting a flat tire fixed before I could even get home from taking the kids to school. Tonight the kids had a school skating party (fundraiser for the PTA) and tomorrow night is halloween, so that's shot, too. Guess I better get my butt in gear tomorrow during the day.
I nearly crashed my car the other day, laughing at a man I saw in a parking lot. He was about 40 years old, and looked it, with a small beer gut. And he was wearing his pants in that crotch-around-the-knees-boxers-sticking-out-the-top style that the teens like to wear. Usually when I see someone dressed (and I use the word lightly here) this way, they have on print boxers. Well, this man had on tighty-whitey Fruit of the Looms. It was hilarious. I called my mom and told her about it, and we had a good laugh.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Happy Michael Landon's birthday to any Bonanza Fans out there!
