I hate 5 am phone calls

  • Mood:

I hate 5 am phone calls.  They never seem to be good news.

Early this morning I got the news that my brother-in-law, Joe, had passed away during the night.  He's not been in good health for many years, due to his diabetes.  He's had vision problems, a small stroke, a kidney transplant (now failed--he's been on dialysis for several years now) and has had both legs amputated below the knee for infections.   He's been feeling very poorly for several weeks, including last evening, and died in his recliner.  They found him about 1:30 am.

It's been obvious that Joe's quality of life has declined greatly in the past few years, and it's been ages and ages since he really felt well enough to do much of anything.  But it's still sad to lose him, and we are feeling the loss.  I comfort myself with the thought that he's feeling better now, with eyes and kidneys and legs that all work fine.

Awwww Deb, I'm sorry for your loss. I remember talking to you about Joe and his illnesses. I know second-hand, what a struggle it is to live like that. I'm sure Joe is happier now.

I'm so sorry to hear about Joe. I have no doubt that you're feeling the loss. You have my deepest sympathy and I will keep your family in my prayers tonight. Take care of yourself.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your BIL, Debbie. I do hope that your family is healing over this very sad loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I do know the feeling of the loss of a loved one. You are right, however, he is in a much better place where he sees more clearly than he did here on earth, and his legs are once again whole and his health is perfect again! If anything can give you a reason to smile, it is that comforting thought. Take care. Marie

I'm just reading this now Debbie. So sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds like your brother-in-law had it rough in his last years and for sure he is in a better place.
